Pay Scale: Rs. 57,700 – 1,82,400 (Level 10)
Eligibility Criteria
Age Limit:
- Not exceeding 57 years as on 01-07-2025.
- Age relaxation for candidates who applied under previous notifications (12/2019 and 02/2024).
Educational Qualification:
- Master’s Degree with at least 55% marks (or equivalent grade) in a relevant subject.
- NET/SLET/SET qualification or Ph.D. as per UGC Regulations (2009 or 2016).
- Relaxation of 5% marks for SC/ST/MBC/BC and PwD candidates.
- For Presidency College special recruitment (hearing-impaired teaching posts): additional qualification such as RCI approved Diploma in Teaching the Deaf or Special B.Ed (HI).

Candidates who applied under Notification No. 12/2019 or 02/2024 need to apply again but are exempted from fee payment.
Selection Process
- Written Examination (200 Marks) + Experience & Interview (30 Marks)
- Scheme of Examination:
- Paper I: Compulsory Tamil (50 Marks – qualifying only) & Subject Paper (100 Marks)
- Paper II: Descriptive Essay (50 Marks)
- Experience Weightage: Up to 15 Marks (2 marks per year of teaching)
- Interview: 15 Marks
- Minimum qualifying marks: 40% (General) | 35% (Others)
