TNPSC CTSE 2026 Eligibility Criteria
Age Limit
Candidates should have completed 21 years of age for all the posts. The age limit is calculated as on 01 July 2026.
The maximum age limit differs depending on the post and category. Candidates should therefore check the specific age requirement applicable to the post they intend to apply for.
Important: For posts where the notification states “No Maximum Age Limit”, the notification specifies that candidates should not have completed 60 years of age as on 01.07.2026 or at the time of selection/appointment.

For posts other than Tamil Reporter and English Reporter, the written examination consists of Paper I and Paper II. The examination is conducted in Objective CBT mode.

TNPSC CTSE 2026 Selection Process
Step 1 → Online Application
Candidates submit the online application through the TNPSC examination portal.
Step 2 → Written Examination
Candidates appear for Paper I and Paper II as applicable to their post.
Step 3 → Onscreen Certificate Verification
Candidates satisfying the required minimum marks and reservation criteria are admitted to onscreen certificate verification.
Step 4 → Physical Certificate Verification
Eligible candidates proceed to physical certificate verification.
Step 5 → Interview
The interview carries 60 marks.
Step 6 → Final Ranking
Final ranking is prepared by combining the relevant written examination marks and interview marks, subject to reservation rules.

TNPSC CTSE One Time Registration (OTR)
OTR registration fee is ₹150.
Successfully registered OTR is valid for 5 years from the date of registration.
One Time Registration is not an application for a particular recruitment.
Candidates must submit a separate online application for each examination.
A valid email ID and mobile number are mandatory.
Aadhaar linking with OTR is mandatory as specified by TNPSC.
Candidates should provide correct SSLC details during OTR.

Complete One Time Registration if you do not already have a valid OTR.
Login using your OTR User ID and Password.
Select the Combined Technical Services Examination (Interview Posts).

Select the appropriate subject paper based on your qualification.
Enter your personal, educational and other required details.
Upload the required documents, photograph and signature.
Select your examination centre preferences.
Preview the completed application.
Correct any errors before final submission.
Pay the prescribed examination fee, if applicable.

Tamil Language Requirement
Candidates should possess adequate knowledge of Tamil on the date of notification. The notification provides several ways of satisfying this requirement, including having studied Tamil as one of the languages in SSLC/HSC/Degree or having studied the high school course in Tamil medium, subject to the conditions specified by TNPSC.
Candidates are required to upload the prescribed educational mark sheets or proof of having passed the Second Class Language Test (Full Test) in Tamil conducted by TNPSC, wherever applicable.
Exception: The notification specifies that the relevant Tamil-language document provision does not apply to Veterinary Assistant Surgeon, Research Assistant, Port Officer and System Analyst.
Medical and Physical Standards
Candidates selected for appointment will be required to submit a physical fitness certificate to the Appointing Authority at the time of joining the post.
Certain posts have prescribed vision standards. These include:
Port Officer – Standard I
Assistant Director of Town and Country Planning – Standard II or better
Senior Entomologist – Standard III or better; colour blindness is a disqualification
Assistant Director of Textiles – Standard III or better; colour blindness and night blindness are disqualifications
Manager (Accounts) – Standard III or better; defective colour vision and night blindness are disqualifications
Candidates applying for Senior Entomologist, Assistant Director of Textiles and Manager (Accounts) must upload
the prescribed eye fitness certificate at the time of online application.
Reservation
The rule of reservation of appointments applies to this recruitment. However, reservation for Destitute Widow and Ex-Servicemen does not apply to this recruitment.
For posts whose total cadre strength is one only, the rule of reservation of appointments does not apply. The detailed reservation distribution is provided in the notification.
